"Men's Fashion Business Eighty Eight Store Looking to Open New Branch in Derby" - Derby Telegraph

"A Derbyshire fashion business has said it is hoping to open its next store in Derby city centre by the end of the year.

Ashley Allen, founder of Eighty Eight Store, has said that the firm is looking to open its second outlet in or around Sadler Gate, in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter – and is currently on the hunt for suitable premises. This week, the men’s wear retailer will celebrate its third anniversary.

It began with a store on Nottingham Road, Ilkeston. Today, it is based in a unit at the former Co-op department store, in South Street, in the town. And as well as its 1,300 sq ft store, which it moved into a year ago, the company has been developing its web presence, selling premium brands and contemporary fashion online.

Among the names the company stocks are Pretty Green, Weekend Offender and Marshall Artist, technical-outerwear brands such as Napapirji and Penfield, and classic menswear brands such as Lyle & Scott and Lee.

Mr Allen said: “Our success looks set to continue as Eighty Eight Store now looks to open its second store before the end of the year. We are looking around the Sadler Gate area because that’s a really nice part of the city that would be a great fit for our customers.

“We’re a stockist of several brands that can only be brought from ourselves in the area, such as Napapirji, North Sails, Penfield – and we want to bring this shopping experience and level of product to the city centre.

“We had an offer in for a store in Sadler Gate a couple of weeks ago, but unfortunately we missed out which was a shame. The only timescale we have is that we want to be in a premises in the area by the end of the year. So, we still have plenty of time to find the right property for us.”

To mark the third anniversary Eighty Eight, on Friday the business will be hosting a party at its Ilkeston store, with 10% off all products in-store. Mr Allen said: “Since we started we have always enjoyed having a loyal customer-base, with most of our original customers still buying in-store from us today.

“We have always sought to offer a premium and diverse range of brands to help accommodate our customers, whether it be in-store or online. And as well as the party, to mark the occasion of our third birthday we have teamed up with Weekend Offender to release an exclusive T-shirt!”
